One Year Ago...

So one year ago today, I started my journey to Vancouver! Crazy, huh? Yup, Feb. 14, after an ice storm in T-town, I got in my car with two cats, and headed out. Ok, I think it was the 13th, but I know I was on the road on the 14th (it's kitty Athena's birthday, and I felt bad she spent it cooped up in her car carrier!). Anyway, one year later, and I've just presented my final project to an industry panel, gotten feedback for improvement, and am preparing my portfolio for potential employers. Yikes! Suffice it to say, I'm just as nervous about new journeys now as I was last year at this time...yet so much has changed in between.

I don't really have a lot of time right now, but I thought you'd enjoy the fact that I presented my piece to a panel of people from a film/tv studio, EA Games and Next Level Games. While waiting for the presentation, Steve and I played Super Mario 3...talk about a great stress reliever! And afterwards, I played Tetris and reached my new high score of 115,506 (we keep track on the board here since the game doesn't save anything)...meaning I beat Steve's score and second only to Billy's (our "professional" gamer). I got to see the space shuttle launch on the game. And if you don't remember what I'm talking about, you should definitely go revisit some old school Tetris. ;)

Ok, so I should probably be talking more about my work...but really, that just stresses me out. The good news is, I'm on the home stretch. And while it will be hard to say good-bye..it feels SO good to say "Whew! I made it!". What a crazy year...but it's been good.

Hope you like the picture...it was taken from that $18 million apartment, and is being used as our graduation poster. In the background (unseen) is the bridge I bike over every day...good view of the mountains and water though! And my entire class is pictured. From Left to Right, it's Billy (Hong Kong), Andres (Columbia), Jason (Vancouver / Hong Kong), Nino (Bosnia / South Carolina), myself, Jake (Taiwan / Vancouver)..botton row with hands in the air...Steve (Vancouver), and Mark (California).
