Get Your Canadian On

This post is a bit late since Canada day was WAY back on July 2nd. I don't really have a good excuse, but I don't plan to write much...just put up some pictures. I can't really say I understand the holiday. I mean, Canada is its own country, but it's sort of a commonwealth (or something) of England yet. The queen is on all their money, and they may possibly report to the Queen and/or Prime Minister. but it sounds like they aren't really held to them. I didn't get a great answer from the Canadians here either...but I didn't try too hard.

For Canada day, my neighbor Tracy and I went to Granville Island where they had street performers, free flags and pins (though my favorite was the free punch balloon with the Canadian flag on it...but that's just because I'm going to use it for some cool Foley recordings this term), BBQ's, merchant open houses, free temporary maple leaf tattoos, and the regular Granville market. I enjoyed the street musicians the most...oh yes, and Miss Canada Girl...or whomever the crazy stiltwalker was supposed to be! My neighbor was laughing at my enthusiasm since I had just finished sewing a patch of the Canadian flag on my travel bag. I did it first because it was the easiest, so it was a coincidence that it was on for Canada day. But hey, you have to celebrate your travels! Hooray for Canada!
