If you live long enough, I think everyone eventually has moments in their life that hit them so profoundly, they always remember where they were when they heard the news. Some of these are personal moments, but of course, there are a few that hit people nationally or even globally. I feel like I've experienced a few of these, and most of the time, they're pretty negative...such as 9/11, or a few hurricanes. However, every once in a while, I think such moments can be wonderfully celebratory! Now, I'm not sure that every moment sticks around in the psyche exactly the same...but I'd like to think that this past week's amazing gold medal count by Michael Phelps at the Olympics will stick out for a long time. Why? Because I happen to love the Olympics, and well, if a massive concentration of record breaking can bring people together...then I'm all for it!!
But yes, as a self-proclaimed Olympic-viewing addict, I was glued to my cute couch (I promise, photo coming soon!) for ALL of Michael Phelps' events and even scared my cats during at least one excited cheer. =) I absolutely love watching his mom's reactions, and seeing this oddly-dolphin-shaped man break records AND look excited doing it! Hooray for Phelpsian Pheats pulling the world together!! May we have many more of these, and less of those other kinds...

I agree!
(Wish I could have seen it, though. For some reason, Koreans only like to play their sports and could care less about the others. They care so much about theirs that they would rather play theirs over and over and over again in 'reruns' than share the screen with any other country ... unless that country happened to be in competition with them.
Sad story, I know. I had dreams of gluing myself to a couch for the Olympics too!) :(
GOOOO PHELPS!!!
